Paavo Tikkanen Interview
マックス・ジェンケの紹介で同じEndeavorチームのパボ・ティッカネンにメールにてインタビューを行った。プロフィールに関するスタンダードな質問からその他いろいろ聞いたみたぞ。
（注意：このインタビューの収録は2002年9月と11月に2回に渡り行ったものです。）

スノーボード始めたきっかけは？何歳のとき？
- 15歳くらいのとき。スケートボードは7歳のときからだし、スキーも前からやっていて、
スノーボード見たときにすごい面白そうで、ちょっとスケートボードみたいだったからやってみたかったんだ。
家族でオーストラリアン・アルプスにスキーに行った時、２・３日ボードをレンタルしたいって言って借りたんだ。
その旅行から帰る頃には両親からボードを買ってもらってたってわけ。
それ以来、スキーとはサヨナラさ!
How did you get into snowboarding? And how old were you when you started riding?
- i was about 15 years old and ive been skateboarding since 7years old, i was skiing before
and when i saw snowboarding i was like that looks really fun and its kinda like skateboarding so i wanted to try it!
we were in austrian alps with my family skiing and i wanted to rent a board for couple days so we did
and in the end of our trip my parets baught me a board.
since that no more skiing!
幼少期はどんな子供だった？
- 普通の悪ガキ！まぁ、いろんなことしてたかな。セーリング、柔道、スケートボード、テニス、サッカー･････････
What were you like when you were a kid?
- just a normal hyperactive kid!i guess i was doing a lot of stuff like sailing,judo,skateboarding,tennis,football,...............
当時は、誰と一緒に滑ってたの？
- ヨニ・マルミと一緒にスノーボードを始めたんだ。
前はいつも一緒に滑ってたけど、今はお互い違うこともやってるからそうもいかなくなってきた。
でも今でも機会があれば一緒に滑ってるよ。
Who did you snowboard with, when you first started?
- i started to snowboard with joni malmi we used to allways ride together,
now days it's kinda harder cause we have to doo different stuff,
but we still snowboard together when ever we get a chance
当時、影響を受けたライダーは？
- ヨニ・マルミ、ヨハ・テンク、テロ・アイノネン、テリエ・ハーコンセン、ジェイミー・リン、ヨハン・オロフソン・・・たくさん！
Who were the riders that you were influenced by, when you first started snowboarding?
- Joni Malmi,Juha Tenkku,Tero Ainonen,Terje Haakonsen,jamie lynn,johan olofson.....and many others!
プロライダーになろうと思ったきっかけは何？いつ頃プロを意識するようになったの？
- フィンランドの小さい大会に出てた頃、いつも上手くなりたい、負けたくないって思ってた。
それに何よりもスノーボードを愛してた。自分にとってこれ以上の仕事はない！！！！
Why did you become a pro snowboarder? And when did you start thinking about becoming a pro?
- when we were doing the small finnish competitions i really wanted to get good ,
and i've allways been really competitive and i loved snowboarding so what would be a better job for mee!!!!!!

Who was your first sponsor?

スノーボードで、今まででした大きなケガは何？何故それは起こったの？
- 腕を骨折したんだけど、それが45度くらい曲がったんだ！！！
ヘルシンキのクソ小さいビッグエアー台でcab5したんだけど、左に反れるわ、大きく跳びすぎるわで。
着地も真ん中を外したらそこに鉄のポールがあって、それに腕をぶつけたんだ！！！
自分の失敗でやっちゃうなんて、まったくアホくさい！このヘタクソめ！ハハハハ！！！！
What was the most serious injury you have had from snowboarding? How did it happen?
- i broke my arm it was like 45 degrees!!!
i did a cab 5 in a stupid small big air in downtown helsinki and travelled way too much to the left
and had to go out of the landing in the middel and there was some metal poles were i hit my arm!!!
so stupid it was my own fault i dident ride good hahahahahaha!!!!!
自己ベストな大会成績は？
- booooh、マンチェスターのビッグエアーで優勝したけど、そんなことはどーでもよいことさ！！！！
In which competition, or games, did you make the best result? And what place were you in?
- booooh i dont know i won last year in manchester england a big air but what ever !!!!!
冬の間は主にどこでスノーボードしてるの？
- どこでも。ほとんどがカナダとヨーロッパだけど、USAとか日本でも滑ってるよ。
Where do you usually snowboard during the winter?
- everywhere like mostly in canada and europe but also in USA and japan
主に誰と一緒に滑ってるの？
- いっぱい、いろんな人達と。
前はロシニョールの人が多かったけど、今は友達が中心。
いっぱいいすぎて挙げられない！
Who do you usually snowboard with?
- so many different people i used to ride a lot with the rossignol guys
but now i ride whit who ever of my friends too many to tell!
パボが思い描く山での理想の一日ってどんなの？
- 天気のいい日に仲間と一緒に滑ってる。パーク、スラッシュ、パウダー、なんでもいいんだ。
みんな調子よく滑っていて、楽しい時間を過ごす･･･
What's your idea of an epic day at the mountain?
- Riding with some good friends either park,slush or powder on a sunny day
and everybody is riding good and having a good time.....
スノーボード以外では何が好き？
- スケートボード、テニス、ゴルフ、相棒達とつるむこと・・・・・・ガールズ！
What do you like to do when you're not riding?
- skateboarding,playing tennis or golf,hangging with by buddies...................girls!
音楽は何聴くの？
- いろんなの。ヒップホップ、ユーロテクノ、ボーイズバンド、ブリトニー、ジャズ、いっぱい良いのがありすぎて言いきれない！
What bands/music are you into?
- i like allkinds of music:hip hop,euro techno,boys bands,britney aso,jazz,everything that sounds good too much to tell!
日本には何回来てるの？
- 4回だと思う。
How many times have you been to Japan?
- i think 4
2001年のＴＯＹＯＴＡ ＢＩＧ AIRに来たよね。どうだった？楽しめた？
- Yeah,すごく楽しみにして行ったのに、調子悪くて2回目のジャンプに失敗して予選落ちしちゃったよ。
超・超自己嫌悪！！！ったくパボって奴は！！！
I remember that you were at TOYOTA BIG AIR 2001 in Hokkaido. How was it? Did you have fun?
- yeah i was super stoked to be there,but then i wasen't riding that good i slammed my second jump
and dident get qualified and i was so bummed booooooo paavo you suck!!!
次はいつ日本に来るの？
- うまくいけば1月に。
When will you come to Japan next?
- hopefully in january
Wildcatsについては？パボにとってのWildcatsって何？
- 一緒に居て楽しいし、スーパー楽しく滑れる仲間。そんなグッドなグループさ。
How do you think about the Wildcats? What is the Wildcats for you?
- its just a good group of friends that you can have fun with and have a super fun time riding!!
Wildcatsと一緒に居てとても危険だったことや、とてもバカげてたことって何？それはどうして起こったの？
- うちらはバカでも危険でも無いただのネコ（cats)だよ！！！！ハハハ
What was the most dangerous or most stupid things you were with Wildcats? How did it happen? ???
- we are not stupid or dangerous were cats!!!!hahaha i dont know?
もし何かの経営者だとしたら、スノーボード業界のどういうところを変える？
- 解らないけど・・・多分もっと本当のスノーボーダーが係わるようにする！！！！
If you were running things, what would you change about the snowboarding industry?
- i dont know.......maybe having more actual snowboarders involved on things!!!!
新作ビデオで出演しているのは？
- Joni Malmi とプロジェクトがあるのと、あと Wild Catsと何かやるよ。
もしかしたらそれ以外にもね！
What will be the upcoming video to be released?
- were doing a project with joni malmi,and im doing something with the wildcats.and maybe some other stuff too!!!

- ケガをしすぎないこと。ビデオでいいシーンを残すこと。ビッグエアーコンテストで優勝すること。

- Not too many injuries,have a good part in some movie,and win a big air contest.
最後に日本のスノーボーダーにメッセージを。
- あんまりシリアスにならないで、ただ楽しむことを考えよう！
